Well,   What was the name of the piece, so that we may be forewarned?  
   At Vanderbilt, a 1938 Baldwin L, donated in some distress years ago, is the "Cage" piano.  When a student simply must go all avante-gard on us, we point them towards that one and don't worry about it.
