AH, HL- well I didn't know what that was till tonight. Now I'm
enlightened, though what about it is either higher or logical?

Joe,

Very well said, and I couldn't agree more. Thanks.

Folks,

Although it is tempting to dwell on our (practically unavoidable) negative
emotions arising from this decision, the loss of the listserve, our
frustration with Higher Logic and with our PTG leadership, please consider
the following two points:

---

1) The Pianotech list is the single greatest English-language source of
information exchange concerning all aspects of piano technology and service
in human history (and the English-language qualification may not be
necessary; it very well may be the greatest anywhere in any or all
languages). Past generations of inquisitive techs would have given anything
to have access to this kind of information exchange.

2) The sole reason why this list is so great is that so many dedicated,
intelligent, creative, skilled, articulate, and generous technicians have
chosen to share their hard-earned knowledge and experience with each other
(with their competitors, if you care to think that way), and with posterity.
As they say about churches (metaphorically speaking; I am making no comment
about religion), "the church is the people, not the building." We Are
Pianotech! (Anyone wanna get tee shirts made?) The listserve is just the
medium.

Keeping those points in mind, I think that the best thing we can do going
forward is to stay together and keep this thing going. It would make sense
to go to google groups (I signed up), since it is a convenient alternative
at the moment. Long term planning can be done if necessary if a
preponderance of participants think that other options may be better.

But, for now, let's focus on getting as close to 100% of our members as
possible moved over to google groups in the next month. I am not a tech
whiz, but I will help in any way I can.

With enormous gratitude towards all participants for having have enriched my
craft and my life,

Joe DeFazio

P.S. - If you aren't getting my point, maybe Al Green can help out:
