Hi, Wim and Rob ! Good suggestion from Wim, but... I would insert Hammer Shank INSIDE a piece of BRASS TUBE [like used in Vacuum Player Mechanisms]. Brass Tubing will prevent Hammer shank further splitting.. I had done those PRS [Post Refinishing Syndrom } repairs on many pianos.. It Woyks! Hope it helps.. Good luck!
