Thanks John, There was no need to putty in the old inlay - it was flat - returned from the factory with new finish and no decal. The SS directions said to sand the surface, lay down a clear coat, let it set and burnish the decal into the relatively soft finish - then clear coat. Maybe they were assuming I would use solvent lacquer. What sort of clear do you use over their decals? Ever have a reaction? Do you think they paint over their brass? Gene Putty in the old "brass inlay' veneer. Sand smooth. Seal. Base Coat Black, Scuff flat. Topcoat Black. Apply Decal. Finish Clear. Rub Out. Done it many times. -- Regards, Jon Page
