The piano has a full plate, but it did not sit on dowels when the plate was pulled 5 months ago, nor was there a wooden spacer(I don't know whether the plate was pulled previously - certainly possible). I was told the tail did pop-up considerably when it was loosened. Thanks for all the good advice. - Ron </BLOCKQUOTE>          Ron         I understand about the pinblock but I think this is the same model that I'm working on currently and it has 5 nose bolts. So my question is are you sure they were low enough not not interfere with the plates ability to settle into an appropriate position? It's an easy mistake ask any rebuilder. If someone set the blots to high previously and then bloted the plate down it would have popped up noticeably when the bolts came out. It would be nice if it was that simple. I lost the original post. How big is the piano? What did the plate sit on, blocks at each plate boss? does it have plate bosses?          Dale Erwin </HTML>
