Dear List,

I am hoping that some of you will have some helpful information....

A customer of ours is looking to sell a Geyer baby grand piano in high polish
walnut. Based on purchase dates, the piano is estimated to be approximately
30 years old but no serial number was found and beside the point there is no
information in the Pierce Atlas regarding this company other than the country
of manufacture - Germany. All parts of the piano are in good shape with
normal wear and tear for a 30 year old piano. There is one hairline fracture
in the treble bridge. The pin block is also soft for a 30 year-old-piano.
There is one wierd thing about the piano, the areas that were faded by sun
are not only faded but have turned a shade of green. The finish does not
seem to be affected, it is still very smooth, It is only the color that seems
to have been affected by the sun. Although the piano is in reasonable shape,
the greened portion of the piano makes it a less saleable item.

Does anyone have any experience with Geyer? Has anyone ever run across this
fading problem? And is there any way to correct this problem short of full
refinishing?

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

~Mark
