of view on
some of the areas of discussion in this thread. I hope this is
helpful.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>1. 50-watt =
dehumidifiers in a
vertical system, in our opinion, do not significantly alter pitch during =
a
tuning if they were to come on. We are, however, =
currently talking to
a number of experts to gather additional opinions on this. There =
is a
simple solution for any technician who is concerned. Shut the =
Dampp-Chaser
System off prior to doing the tuning. Incidentally,
we manufactured the Ultra V system in the past. One of
the benefits to this system was that the dehumidification came from =
the
back of the soundboard and there was little if any rise in heat in =
the
front. Unfortunately, we only sold a handful of these so =
we
discontinued the model.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>2. The =
recommended
orientation of a Vertical System installation is so the Humidistat =
functions
correctly. It needs to get primary feedback from the
Humidifier.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>3. The Undercover was =
designed to
create a more confined space for the system to operate. We =
recommend it
for drafty environments where it is difficult to stabilize a grand =
piano.
I will have some interesting data to present in Chicago showing what it =
does in
an institutional setting. The data was generated by Vince at
BYU.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>4. Maybe I am not =
understanding
this clearly, but we advise against putting a Dehumidifier in the
action.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I look forward to seeing any of you who =
will be
going to Chicago. I will be teaching a new class at the convention =
and I
will be demonstrating dataloggers at the Cyber Cafe.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><BR></DIV>Friends,
<P>I would follow Dampp-Chaser's recommendations when installing the
components. I see some rather strange variations from time to
time. I figure, if the company has done research on where to =
place the
parts for greatest effectiveness, why try to second-guess them?
