Just thought I'd share a little cool way I found to measure =
vertical piano
letoff quickly and accurately. Initially, a tech friend of mine showed =
me
three pieces of wood with that flexible magnetic strip on the back of =
each.
One for each section. About 1/4" thick for the bass, and 1/8th" for =
the
treble.

Since I have a regulating job tomorrow, and didn't have time to =
hunt down
the various items, I thought I'd rummage around the shop to see what I =
could
come up with. Oh, the magnet doesn't stick to the copper windings, so =
no use
for the magnetic strip there. Anyway, I found a couple of wood paint =
stirring
things and discovered that they are just about exactly 1/8th" thick! =
The next
finding is that when you sandwich two together you have letoff for the =
bass!
And the best part is, no magnet needed as they sit right on top of the =
dampers
and stay there right up against the strings and right at the strike =
point.
Cheap, fast, effective! Of course, someone probably thought of this =
LONG
before I did; or maybe not.
