Hi Avery,

Unisons are something I always work to improve. One
in a while will get away from me, and I'll have to go back and fix it. The
tricky part is in the high trebble not going to sharp to settle that pin
in. The high trebble is what gives me the most dificulty at this point,
but I'm starting to get a good handle on it I think. Another interesting
thing about u nisons is this, some notes have more room between the point where
the beats start comming, ie. flat side where beats start_____sharp side where
beats start. The line being that fine point where the beats do not exist. That
line seems like a smaller area on some notes. Tuning is so
interesting. I'm suprised that more people are not interested in
it.

was primarily referring to someone just learning how to tune. Can't even set a
temperament yet. I try to keep them on unisons until they can do a stable job
of that. Before I started with my first "trainee", I asked Jim Coleman for any
advice he might have. His comment was to "keep them on unisons until they can
tune them as well as you. Then start with the other things." Without that
stability, one is basically just spinning his/her wheels.

Avery
