things up a bit & makes things a whole lot easier to work on. Definately
helps the plate go in and out easier. Below is a picture of a Mason & Hamlin

from a Mason & Hamlin upright too. The right key bed support had to
have a notch made to get at one screw. Even though it had five or
six screws into the side of the piano case, it was also glued. <BR><BR>Then
when the plate was loose, it still couldn't be removed due to a piece of
walnut moulding glued to the case top that was wider than the top to hide the
top edge of the plate casting. I damaged the moulding trying to remove
it, so will have to cut a new one when it goes back together. <BR><BR>It was
obvious this piano case was built up after the sound board and plate were
attached with little consideration to future disassembly for rebuilding.
