new.&nbsp; From the description (I haven&#8217;t seen the piano yet) I believe
it&#8217;s just the nature of the scaling at the bottom of the piano.&nbsp;
Many, if not most, of the Steinways I encounter aren&#8217;t as clear as they could
be down there will benefit from what you describe.&nbsp; I&#8217;m wondering
more about whether just changing the monochords (if that&#8217;s the route that
ends up being pursued) will create problems with the transition to the low bichords.&nbsp;

I routinely double wrap all Stwy B&nbsp; mono chords.&nbsp; TO my ear it is
huge improvement over the mapes string which is&nbsp; a OEM part.&nbsp; Our new
B at the college has a funky sound upon entering the mono section. I have been
happy with the GC &amp; Arledge iterations of this.</span></font></p>
