<html> <body> In all my years of doing this, I've never run into a piano where the monochords needed that much of an overpull! I, too, would be afraid to do that! IMO, it isn't necessary. I don't even use the PR function on the SAT for the bass strings. I start with #1 and just pull them a little sharp and go! They usually come out pretty close.
