Even if I press on the new damper felt it continues!</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I have checked the damper regulation (timing seems fine, lift ok and if I press on a string the damper follows nicely. I've  done the basic string checks ie, seated at the bridge, bridge pins, checked to see if the sound changes at the capo bar if I gently press a brass rod agains the string sideways etc. The plate is tight to the tuning pin block and the ribs are tight,  I can see no cracks in sound board, nothing has fallen down between the plate and wooden parts front or back. I have removed pictures off the walls, items off nearby tables etc.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I even had a fellow RPT look at this instrument and we can not find the trouble. she did make a couple of recommendations and I have done those. they included checking the spacing of the hammers (again) and gently reshaping the hammers.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I have one thing I am going to try yet. I see no reason not to tune this piano to A440. I have discussed this with the owner.
