Replacing a back action with new Renner parts on
1918 SS-M.

Curious if red oak would do well as replacement
mounting blocks for the damper tray rather than maple? (I am a long distance
from a hardwood store) The existing was bad as one side was pine and egg
shaped in the pin hole - the other side still original maple but suffering
from the effects of the age and excess tray wobble.

Also, how much friction on the lift lever
flanges? The Renner parts are about 4.5 to 5 grams from the factory -
they are a bit tight in my opinion - should I try for about 2 to 3
grams? I am curious because the 4.5 gram is consistant for the
entire set with very slight variation.
