<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial>All you want to do, is stabilize the crack, or
loose rib, so it doesn't vibrate.</FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial>Once you find it, drill a hole in the rib, on each
side of the crack, or in the area of rib separation. The size of the hole, is
such that a gyprok screw, threaded area, will be free. Use the ones with a
coarse thread. Run glue, under the loose rib, and then use the screw to draw the
board and rib together. The screw has an aggressive thread, and point and will
have no problem, catching the soundboard.</FONT></STRONG></DIV>
<DIV><STRONG><FONT face=Arial>Once the glue dries, then you can remove the screw
and use a piece of dowel, to plug the hole.</FONT></STRONG></DIV>

because my husband just doesn’t “get it”. Today was my first experience
with telling a customer that her very pretty 100 year old Ludwig upright has
major cracks in the soundboard and needs serious help. (It’s buzzing in
the F4 area). She spent too much money on the piano, can’t afford an
overhaul, and just stared at me like I’m supposed to perform miracles.
