I couldn't help but notice that all the techs who are into these 'genuine
Pearl River zippered bags' are on the coasts. Here in the Midwest, we do
things a little more 'down to earth'.

I already have everything
divided up and in shoe boxes. One shoe box for the stringing test.
One shoebox for the rest of the repair section. And the rest is in my
tool kit. (Which, BTW, is NOT a shoebox. I may be from the
Midwest, but I don't live in a trailer park!)

And I thought of it myself, although I'm glad that you all think it's a
good idea. Here's another good idea, I think.

I also brought along 5 different thicknesses of key bushing cloth.
I cut off about 9 inches from each of the 5 sizes, and wrote a '1', or '3'
with a felt tip marker on each one, and put them in a plastic baggie.
Which is now inside a shoebox.

They may not have any zippers, but not being bi-coastal, I don't
care!

Thanks for the input, everyone,

create a separate tool/supply bag for each section of the test (stringing

I take the Technical Exam. Any advice from those of you who have
>gone through it?
>>>
>>>The one
question that no one seems to be able to answer is: how is the test
>scored? For instance, the stringing portion of the test, three
tasks in 20 minutes;
>are they equal in scoring weight? If I

should I leave undone?
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>>On the
tuning exam the scoring system is given to the examinees, and it was a
>great help in allotting time to finish various secitons. For
instance, I didn't waste
>much time with the top or bottom octave,
knowing that it was scored so lightly, and
>rather focused on octaves
5 and 6, and 3 and 2.
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>>It
would be great to know how to budget my time in the Technical Exam.
