<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I've had this happen countless times with some
earlier, as well as some recent Mark III models. The FDD's in the player units
work about 4 times harder than your computer drives and just fail after time and
usage. Usually the screen display will show a "UNFORMATTED DISK" error
message and no matter what disk you insert it will not read any
information. Call Freddy at Yamaha with the model and serial number of the piano
and he'll ship you a new FDD. You'll have to follow the instructions, which are
mostly pictures and Japanese print, to replace the new disk drive that will
probably need a newer face plate to accommodate the reengineered design but this
should solve the play back problem. If you have any installation Q's contact me
privately.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Tahoma size=2> New customer called, his
Yamaha Disklavier won't work, he claims it won't read the floppy disc (must be
an early version). Not sure if it is on a vertical or grand.
Looking at it Monday, any quick checks I can do before calling the local
dealer? I've been to the Red Schoolhouse and have books and discs, but
I'm not sure how to go about this as they are pretty trouble free and
I've never serviced one.</FONT></DIV>
