<DIV> <FONT face="MS Sans Serif">Be careful not to move that rail too far back. You may find that the jacks will wedge themselves between the hammer butt and the rail, and cause them to stick. I often find this to be the case, and have to move the rail slightly away from the butts to correct the problem. You may not notice this happening at first, but on a series of quick blows, the jack slips out and won't go back under the butt, while the hammer is close to the rest rail. If you find some sticking keys that just don't seem to respond to the the usual fixes, check to see if that rail is too far in. It only takes a few mm's of movement to correct the problem. Am I making sense? Hope so. Good luck.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><BR></DIV><FONT size=2>
<DIV> Since this puzzler went basically unnoticed, I'll supply the answer now: let-off button rail too far forward. The clicking sound was caused by the backcheck wires hitting the edge of the buttons. I just loosened the 3 screws that hold the rail in place and slid the rail further back in the fork/mounts. Let-off will have to be re-regulated in that section.</DIV>

<DIV> List,</DIV>

<DIV>Action clicks have been costing me time of late. I had yet another click today. The piano is a Kawai K-30 upright. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>On hammer blow, there's a click, as well as some resistance late in the key stroke. This was happening on many notes in the middle section of the piano. I thought I'd cured the problem at my last visit when I regulated the backchecks to catch the hammers sooner. I found more clicking today, though. I was determined to find the cause rather than to try to treat the symptoms. </DIV>
