<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I was recently tuning a Kawai GE-1A and noticed
that three bass bichords had small metal clips attached to and
connecting both strings in front of the agraffes. I do not believe I have
ever seen this before. From their size and shape, it was obvious that their
placement was intentional and not the result of some rather odd looking
staples or something falling into the piano. They would slide easily enough
along the strings but were gripping the strings with enough force to prevent
easy removal. I found little or no effect in tone or phase when I moved them
back and forth a bit on the strings. Only three notes had these "clips".
