squeaks....argh!</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV> Hi All,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I thought I could solve any damper pedal mechanism squeak, and up until
recently, I've had pretty good luck. Then I met a recent model
Hallet-Davis (Dongbei built, I believe) upright. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I lubricated and tightened everything I could think of. Here's
the list of things I tightened and lubed:</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><B><FONT size=2>
<DIV>Lubed</DIV>
<DIV>damper flange centers (protek CLP)</DIV>
<DIV>damper springs (teflon powder)</DIV>
<DIV>damper lever felt with teflon(two weeks prior) and protek last
night</DIV>
<DIV>lift rod with protek</DIV>
<DIV>all rod tips and linkage w/ special blend</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>tightened </DIV>
<DIV>all screws on the various rails</DIV>
<DIV>pedal rod hinge screws</DIV>
<DIV>all pedal brackets and fixture screws</DIV>
<DIV>all damper flange screws</DIV>
<DIV>all available case screws</DIV>
<DIV>In addition, I inserted buckskin pieces in places where case parts were
rubbing and replaced the rubber pieces where the pedal rod inserts into the
lift rod with buckskin pieces</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>Noise still there…..argh! It sounds to me like it's the damper lever
felt/lift rod interface. It doesn't happen when the pedal is first being
used, say for 20-30 presses of the pedal. Then gradually, the creak comes
back.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I don't know what else to do. Did I miss anything? Any
ideas?</DIV></B></FONT></DIV>
