I'm definitely NOT a refinisher but something I picked up from my <br>
rebuilding partner about 15-20 yrs. ago was to stain the piano <br>
black before "refinishing". Assuming you want it black, of
course. <br>
That way, when the finish gets rubbed off or knocked off, it's <br>
not so obvious! <br><br>

Yes Dale, Most have been clear coats. Lots of repair & touch up
with black<br>
lacquer & Poly . But no complete refinish jobs with black lacquer.
