if it's going to be black we typically use Bondo to fill gauges,dents
etc. Yes, auto plastic type filler. Since it's black it absolutely
doesn't matter what's under the black as long as it fills & is flat.
Bondo doesn't shrink either. Cool aye? On the corners with busted edges or
dents we use wood glued on with Ca glue. We call this football. It's

The brass inlay name decal means it's German. You can spray
black over the entire fall board once its' prepped...as a base black
coat. Sand it flat with 400-600 wet & until the brass shows thru the
black. Then finish the rest of the top coats in clear gloss lacquer.
