<DIV> <FONT face="MS Sans Serif" size=2>Remove the action and see where the jacks end up when the key is fully depressed. Watch and see what the jack is doing as you press the key. Does it clear the knuckle? Does it push on the felt in the wippen? Are the jacks lined up with the knuckle core at rest? Observing the jack position will indicate many things, like too much dip for the hammer blow distance (makes the jack hit the wippen cushion), too little dip or too much blow distance (jack won't clear the knuckle), uneven hammer-line (balancier height too high, jack is too low in wippen window), non-repeating keys (jack is too high in window). </FONT></DIV>
<DIV> <FONT face="MS Sans Serif" size=2>Did you try adjusting the drop screw(s)? Screw it downwards to get more drop. Are the repetition springs too tight (play the note into check, and slowly let the key up. Does it want to jump up too fast?)</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><BR></DIV><FONT size=2>I was marginally successful at tuning a 2+ yr-old Falcone GF-62. I say marginally because the white keys of about the middle three octaves or so all bobbled on the strings. No letoff, no drop. Tried to adjust letoff/drop to no avail. Pulled the action. Hammers are properly slightly off the rail in the back. Just for giggles tried removing the felt front-rail punching to give it more aftertouch. Still no letoff, no drop. Had to get going to next appt and didn't have punchings with me anyway, but observed that the white keys were not as high at the center rail... like this: <BR><BR><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: courier new,monospace"> _ _ - _ - _ _ - _ - _ - _ _ - _ - _ _ - _ - _ - _ _ -</SPAN><BR><BR><BR>Do other listers have any ideas?
