<DIV>Aloha, I too have a Baldwin that the customer calls for strings like Arbeau but more often about once a month. This is not a Concert Grand It's one of those DH C-173 mid 80s. It sets out close to the ocean so I have a string cover and DC system on it (Dehumidity only). At first I thought it was the player, but all of the broken strings are in the upper 5th and lower 6th octives. One day I went in to check on it because of all the new strings in that area I have to keep touching it up every few weeks . Now I just automatically grab my string kit before I go in. A few weeks ago one of the strings I replaced about a year ago when this first started was broken. So I'm thinking something else is going on???</DIV> <DIV>On another day when I opened up the piano hot steamy air came rushing up. We were having a lot of Kona winds and the humidity was blowing in under the piano. The DC system must have been drying it as fast as it came in with the moisture going up into the piano. I'm going to put an undercover on it next week .  Any other Ideas? Beside the new strings that area of the piano seems to go out of tune often while the mid treble, tenor, bass. and octive 7 hold tune just fine.
