As Isaac said, previous comments have been on the mark, as were his own,
though I'd like him to list the other three kinds of jacks he uses. My
one addition: in looking for a "home made"
solution, why not build the one Susan Graham described in her first
foray as contributor to (or tech editor of) the Journal? I'll
bet someone (maybe Susan) could come up with the issue citation. I
made one that worked perfectly for years - probably still does; I left it
at a prior employment. It's smaller, more compact than the one from
Jansen and comes in a variety of finishes - your own.

I have this job a
guy wants to attatch the pedal lyre, but the piano has no casters and
isnt high enough to do so. I am just wondering if I should refer the job
to another tuner in our chapter, who has the jack, since I wont be able
to make the money back for buying the jack on the first job. Is it worth
buying? Is there a big call for this type of work, or will the thing just
sit? Is there a "home made way" of doing this job?
