<DIV>Hi, Jerry:</DIV>
<DIV> I've done a few of these. You might check and see how the bedding screws are. I'd bet they are cranked down quite a bit. If you raise the bedding screws, you might have more room under the pinblock to work with. Downside is, you'd have to change the key height and dip, level keys, etc. After you install the brackets, put the action in the piano and check to see that the rail is still straight. Often, the bedding screws will cause the action frame to flex enough to cause the rail to warp when you put the action in the piano. If you had to shim the middle action brackets, make sure the rail is straight when it's in the piano. DAMHIK. </DIV>

<DIV><BR></DIV><FONT size=2>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>As I replaced the old brackets I noticed like Bob said, the new brackets were about 3/32's shorter in height. This was needed......Originally, while removing this action "both ends" hammer flange screws had scraped the underside of the pinblock. I almost wondered if it would come out without damage! </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>NOW...after the new brackets, setting the action spread to 112.5 mm and a bench regulation I attempted to slide the action back into the piano. A few regulation screws in the center of the action will not clear the bottom of the stretcher board. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The clearance between the two is at best, very close but the stretcher board upon measurement is about 1/8 inch lower in the center of the piano. The ends hammer flange screws are clearing now on the ends but not by much. Guess enough that they are not the problem.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I am reluctant to reduce the dimensions of anything more than what may be absolutely necessary to clear for future servicing and not alter the actions calculations. I just feel that the action needs a little more space to clear safely.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Your suggestions ... muchly appreciated!</FONT></DIV>
