Glad you asked! My answer half-way meets your
preference of not building one, as half of it is pre-built. Take a Betsy Ross
spinet (now a bench frame), bolt on little 2x6 extensions on the keybed supports
(remove keybed) and the bottom leg supports. Roll the piano forward so that the
back is facing upwards. Attach a suitable flat surface to the piano back
for your bench-top. I chose to use planks of hard maple and oak with an epoxy
coating. The bench-top could be a simple as a hunk of plywood.

This is a super-stable, super-massive,
super-heavy-duty table one can build for about $20 and literally complete in
just a couple hours.

And besides, it is the only musical table on the
market - the Betsy Ross never sounded so musical - each tool banged on the back
strikes it own cord!

like to not have to do that how ever. I want a bench just for action
work and bench reg. I plan to build a bench for other jobs, but I would
like to perches something stable for regulation. Thanks.
