I would like to use steam on an upcoming key bushing job, but have not
been able to find any of the handy devices my colleagues have
online. Any suggestions for an off-the-shelf, hold-it-in-your-hand
gizmo capable of producing a fine, steady stream of
steam?

Proctor Silex electric kettle #1057 if you can find one. It
is a one-piece small kettle with a sliding part on top to make it whistle
if you want it to. Slid back, the opening supplies a steady and focused
stream of steam. The kettle does not have an auto-shut-off so it works
continuously. I found mine in a second-hand store for $5.
