If you don't have a junk action lying around or don't want to take the
time to remove all of the eyes.

Use a simple piece of 1"X3" or 4" about 40" long with a double
wide slot cut down the middle w/ a skill saw or table saw leaving the ends
closed about 2 inches in on each end. Make 2 "legs" for it
about 7 to 8" long from the same material and secure them to
each end with glue and screws. If you want to get fancy you can add a piece of
3/4"X1/4" material next to the slot for the bass end, standing on the 1/4"
edge, so your wedge dampers are supported above the flat surface. Clean,
simple, done in about a half hour.

I
just used that, but I was wanting something more secure.
Now I am
thinking, of splitting some plastic pipe, sealing the ends,
and
incorporating that into the rack. That way, it could also be used
for
soaking off the old dampers, with the double tray. It would be long
enough
to soak them all at once.
John M. Ross
Windsor, Nova
