Wood as an engineering material. Acoustic properties of wood.<BR>The effect of soundboard thickness, shape, grain angles and tapering on piano tone.<BR>Ribs - what they do and how they are designed. Soundboard and rib crown and how to size ribs. Mechanics of the soundboard system. Types of soundboard crowning systems.<BR>The relationship between soundboard crown and string bearing and how this affects piano tone. Practical methods of setting downbearing on new and old soundboards.<BR>The effect of the bridges and the mounting system.<BR>All this and much more.<BR><BR>Location: Sacramento State University<BR>Capistrano Hall<BR>Date: Saturday September 29, 9am to 6pm<BR><BR>Cost - $100.00 for PTG members and $125.00 for non PTG members.
