Age of the Piano (1900-1940)---when the world was
blessed with performance giants: Hofmann, Cortot,

literally a practical, experiential bridge into an earlier
time---because his mother was a renowned pianist
and composer, he actually sat at the feet of these
legendary pianists. He was there when the timeless
music written by the older masters---from Couperin
and Scarlatti up through Chopin and Schumann---
was exalted, reinterpreted, transcribed, transformed,
and performed brilliantly by these younger masters of
the early twentieth century.</font>

performance practices from the baroque to the romantic
era, the subtle "touch" nuances that make the music
