<DIV> This was more than likely a Steinway built for and

<DIV>sold to the Aeolian Company to accommodate their </DIV>
<DIV>"Duo/Art Player" system. The trap work works well</DIV>
<DIV>it uses iron rods as a pivots. Or it may have been a</DIV>
<DIV>standard Steinway and they could have installed </DIV>
<DIV>some "left over player action stacks". </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> As I remember the sostenuto trap work goes all the </DIV>
<DIV>way to the bass end of the action to connect. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> When Aeolian took delivery they installed the system
</DIV>
<DIV>and sold them on the open market. If this is one of </DIV>
<DIV>those pianos, a standard "bumper rest" Steinway whip</DIV>
<DIV>will fit.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> As an as-sign Aeolian had contracted for a
large number </DIV>
<DIV>of these special built Steinways before the 1929 stock
market </DIV>
<DIV>crashed, (27%) unemployment. However Steinway choose</DIV>
<DIV>not enforce the contract. A large favor to Aeolian.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> I think it was in the Mid-Seventies Steinways only
supplier</DIV>
<DIV> of plates was The Kelly Piano Plate Co. and
they went on </DIV>
<DIV>strike for an extended period of time. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> Aeolian, owned the Wickham Plate Co. who was not on strike.</DIV>
<DIV>And to repay Steinway the favor they agreed to make
plates</DIV>
<DIV>for Steinway, </DIV>
