<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Howdy,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I'm replacing the jacks in some Thayer
wippens. The replacements have really big, fluffy jack button
punchings--which put the jack position too far forward and if I bend the
spoon backward to get the jack back far enough, there isn't enough tension
on the spring that's held by the loop on the jack. (Follow
me?). Instead of trying to compress the
questionable punchings on the jacks, I think it's easier to
compress a set of replacement punchings that I have which look
less wild than those on the replacement jacks, but still need
compressing. Then I'll simply replace the original poofy
ones. The punchings are on my bench, under a cutting board
that is weighted down. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Here's the question--(drum
roll):</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>How long should I leave the punchings under
the weight?</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>This piano belongs to a friend and it will be
a good project for her to replace the punchings. Hmm, I'll have to
think of a few other little jobs for her to do...</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Thanks,</FONT></DIV>
