<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <meta content="text/html;charset=ISO-8859-1" http-equiv="Content-Type"> <title></title> </head> <body bgcolor="#ffffff" text="#000000"> It has been my experience that sales of higher price work like regulation, action rebuilding and products like Damppchaser systems and artist benches skyrocketed when we started taking plastic about 10yrs ago.  I install about 40-50 Damppchaser systems in a given year 90% of which is payed for by plastic.  Without accepting cards I would not sell more than half that number.  The only service that we do not accept credit cards on is rebuilding.  Mastercard and Visa allow only 90 days from the collection of a deposit to the completion of a project.  In those cases where a customer wants to pay for restoration work on their card I suggest that they go to their bank a do a cash draw into their checking account and then write us a check.  That way their still get their air miles for $28,000 worth of purchases. I understand by reading previous posts that a few technicians are personally opposed to being in debt and do not want to contribute to others debt problems.  As far as I am concerned I am not responsible for another persons actions or decisions.  Most credit cards that I accept are used for air miles by the customer. John F. you wrote  "I don't even have a credit card - just a couple of debit cards".  Well your debit card works exactly the same as a credit card and is processed by Mastercard or Visa.  Your debit cards would be useless if every business had the same philosophy as yours.  Not flaming you just stating a fact.  By using your Mastercard or Visa debit cards you are also helping the evil card companies stay in business by using one of their products.  I suggest that you immediately destroy them. By advertising that you accept cards in a yellow page ad or any other advertising, I believe that most technicians would increase their income by at least 25% per year.  I am in business #1 because I love I pianos and #2 to Make A Profit.  I know that to the liberal mindset making a profit is a very bad thing....however ....I'm not a liberal!
