So, if this happens, in the same day, I have to do align and glue on the hammers, do a -full- upright check of regulation (you know the drill), do an after action - before player tuning, reassemble all the player works including all the associated pneumatic assemblies, linkages, measure, cut and add all the hoses. Do all associated adjustments on the associated pneumatics and linkages - loud pedal, soft pedal (sometimes separate bass and treble), adjust the roll governor to get a steady speed, adjust the roll governor, using a test roll, to get the roll speed correct, live test of each note to make sure it plays. Make sure tracking is correct using a customers' roll. Do any noticeable fine tuning of anything. (By this time the customer is already lurking in the background listening, conversing with me and asking questions) THEN is button up time - to put all the covers on. AND one final roll for the customers benefit. NOW I'M DONE 6 - 8 hours later (usually with no lunch break - sometimes graciously offered by the customer) IF I'M LUCKY, I can work it out with the customer to do this in stages - 99% NOT. The wife was very warm and gracious as she always is, even after I used the bathroom without her permission, wishing me and my family Merry Christmas as I left. She was working in a different area of the large house and I knew where the guest bath was as I’ve been there a number of times before. They are used to having lots of workers in and out of their house.
