<p align="left">before the session. We talked about the hammer shifting farther, basically to get newer less exposed felt...I recommended turning the stop screw in as far as possible without contacting the next string...seemed prudent...nice guy.

<div>That was my first inclination but someone beat me to it and it was already screwed all the way in, my only choice was to remove it! I failed to realize the pedal would "clunk" on the keybed with enthusiastic use, which George pointed out to me in his notes. I wrapped it with a large rubber band, the pedal itself, creating a small stop but still allowing the pedal to shift the action/hammers to newer unused felt. He wasn't so bad considering the stories I'd heard about him being demanding and he wears socks onstage now, still no shoes.
