I bought (against prolific admonitions from people in the know, a Steinway square for $ 1600 $ 2200 with delivery. It was in remarkably beautiful condition, had been re-strung and re-pinned and has a quite beautiful sound. Granted, working on it ia like having to take the engine out of a car to change the oil, but there was as added surprise. It is avery early instrument (Pierce Atlas-1856) ser. # 1301. On the underside of the hammer rest rail is the aignature of A. Steinway Nov. 15 1857.
