<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>You might consider a "quickie" utilitarian rebuild,
I've done this. When the piano is not that old and the value isn't there
and the strings need replacing from something like you describe. With a helper I
restring the piano on site in a day or two with new strings and dampers, I know
you need hammers, too. Anyway, no plate pulling, no moving, many corners cut.
It's more of a repair than a restoration to be sure, but sometimes it's what's
right for the situation. You can still clean up the capo, clean the board and
plate, with a helper you can get a lot done fast. Be sure to check the back
action, if it got wet, it might be curtains.</FONT></DIV>

sad, but it could be worse. The soundboard and pinblock looked fine
beside the anticipated water stain on the
