He wrote about <i>imperial</i> gallons, which is ~4.55 liters/litres and, I believe, is 5 quarts. It comes about due to it being the volume and English measure of 10 pounds of distilled water. Seems to me it oughtta be 5 quints, not quarts<br>

today it is 1.319 which equates to $4.98 Cdn for one US gallon--or more or<br>
less $5.00 per liter given the current exchange rates.<br>
