Daniel,

I see that you live in Amarillo. Having experienced one spring and one summer in your city (working at Santa Fe Energy), I know how extremely HOT and DRY it gets there. I'm curious, as others have mentioned, about the RH in your shop, especially as compared to the home where it's lived all these years. If the winter and early spring have been moderately humid, I imagine it's possible that these cracks have always been there and open and close every year, and you just didn't see them because they weren't open yet a couple weeks ago.

What do other desert-dwelling techs do to humidify their shops?

Paul

On Fri, May 23, 2008 at 11:35 AM, daniel carlton <hacicspe@gmail.com> wrote:

my main problem now is that since i moved it into my shop, hairline cracks have developed in the soundboard. you should be able to see them in the photo i've attached. now i realize that's not necessarily a big deal as far as the sound and playability of the piano, but the problem is that the potential buyer didn't know about it when she decided to purchase it, and i had no way of knowing it would do that. i'm thinking i'll just explain that the cracks only developed after sitting in my shop and i could take a little off the price. any thoughts, suggestions, ideas?
