Thanks for the great plug Shawn! Yes, currently
there are 15 active PTG members here (8 RPT, 7 Assoc.) serving a population of
almost 2 million. We need more experienced and aspiring technicians who
wish to build a successful business visit Las Vegas and do you own personal
survey of the business climate and see if it is good for you. I was just
discussing with a dealer today that they need another tuner to help cover in
home/after purchase and sales floor work. Any questions please email me
privately.

I can sum it up in one word, Vegas! I was
going to move out that way myself but didn't! Cost of living is some
what low compared to California and other parts of the country. Its a
grate place to work, and the people are for the most part vary friendly.
You are doing the best thing for yourself as far as checking it out
goes. I did a lot of research before my graduation from Emil Fries and
all signs pointed to Vegas! Its wide open in that town. Not vary
many Technicians... Just don't do like I have dun and let a friend talk
you into somewhere that you really don't want to be. That's my situation
in Cincinnati... When I left hear to go to school I swore that I would
never be back! I was wrong... But its like the song tells you "its
nobody's fault but mine!" Regards,

needed?

Greetings all, this is my first post after reading the list
for a little while. I just finished my first year in piano tech at the
North Bennet Street School and I'll be returning for rebuilding next
fall. I'm in the unique position that I'll be able to move pretty much
wherever I want when I'm finished with school, so I'm doing some research
about where in the country you all think there is a shortage of good
technicians. I asked the same question at the piano world technician's
forum and got a lot of recommendations for moving "out west" to California
and the like. Are there any specific areas you know of that need new
techs? Also, do you know where I can find out more about this
topic?

Thanks, and I hope to chat some more in the
future.

~Andy Reach, 23,
