<DIV><FONT face=Arial>Hi Jack - do you wish to borrow a set of cauls? I've got
most of Bill's caul sets - mortise sizing and other. What size are you looking
for - what size are your pins? I think I've done a Chickering before, so I
might have the cauls.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>I'd wonder if maple would be a good choice for caul
making. When I put my mortise sizing cauls in, the key wood is usually a
little wet - I'd be concerned that the maple would swell and who knows what
size the mortise would end up. But that's just my guess.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>If I can help, let me know.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Hello everyone,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I am rebushing a set of keys for a Chickering
grand and the balance pin holes are an odd size and do not fit any
of my Spurlock cauls.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>What do you do in this situation? Do you
special order cauls or can you make them yourself?</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I quickly made a set of mortise sizing cauls
out of maple and so far they have worked good. I now have to make the key
bushing cauls I and II. I will be using maple again because it is all I have
and I find it easy to work with. </FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2>I hope this
is a good way to do this or if anyone has any other suggestions please let
me know.</FONT></DIV>
