I almost got caught on the last action job I did. It was a Decker Grand that had longer keys than I expected for the case size and the action cavity was over 9 inches high so it was very difficult to reach around the action while it was attached to the keys. I found out after getting it home that the base keys had 7 to 8 leads in each tapering to 1 to 2 in the top treble. With a recently pulled arm muscle, a car that I had not tried to put a grand action into before and the weight and size of the action, I was glad that the customer had left before I had to take it out. With the stack off, it was very heavy to move just the keybed around my work space. I took it back in my wife’s larger car with the stack and keys packed separately and reassembled it at the piano.   Rex Roseman Roseman Piano Tuning   PS Always a good idea to check the connecting screws to anything you try to pick up. Lifting this particular action in anyway by the stack alone or with the keybed may have finished striping the screws that were holding the stack in place.
