If a hammer does not follow the rail, there is</font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000">no lost motion and repetition
might not occur. Adjust the capstan downwards</font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000">to induce lost
motion.</font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000"><br></font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000">You need a slight bit of lost
motion to insure repetition. I aim for 1/16" (1.5
mm)</font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000">back check motion before the
hammer starts to move.</font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000"><br></font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000">if you have high humidity
swings, you might need more lost motion in the dry months</font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000">so that the jack is not too
close to the butt in the damp season. Unless you want to</font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000">tweak the capstans
seasonally.</font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000"><br></font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000">It is not uncommon to perform
a top action regulation on pianos and musicians</font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000">requiring top
performance.</font></div>
