<div dir="ltr">You may find that you won't need to remove the cheek blocks in order to remove the action! Try the left "una corda" pedal. Watch the hammers -- they don't shift to the side, they move closer to the strings by way of the hammer rail, much like an upright action "soft pedal" moving the hammer rail. Since the key frame doesn't shift, it is firmly screwed to the keybed. Get under the piano with a large screwdriver and a flashlight, and you will find 3 screw heads. Remove these, and the keyframe slides out. It is of an "ultra soft" design, so it will feel floppy as you pick it up. <div>
It's very easy to get into Tar Baby mode with old K&B's -- the rest home doesn't want to spend money on it, you really want to "make it right" for the old folks who live there; if you don't start out with getting a very sober estimate for repairs approved by the administration before you start you find yourself "owning" the various deficiencies of the instrument as they become apparent while you're looking for that "knock" that they assume is a 5 minute fix. "It didn't do that before YOU came here!"</div>

<div>Greetings,</div>
<div> </div>
<div> There's a Kranich and Bach
piano at the rest home and I was called in to service it for a "knock" the knock
is surely there, however, after searching for half an hour, I cannot find a way
to take it apart to pull the action out! </div>
<div> I removed the lid and keyslip. I
cannot find where the cheek blocks screws are. Is anyone familiar with
this. How do I get it apart? I have serviced other Chronic and Bachs, but
<em>never</em> ran into this!!</div>
