I don't sell many of these tools, and I don't recall selling one of these voicers to you. You must have purchased the very similar looking tool (knock-off) that is on the market. I beleive that tool is sourced in Asia; by comparison to the one I carry it is cheaply made and could likely have the problems you encountered. My adjustable needle tool is crafted in Germany from solid stainless steel. It is of extremely high quality and I back it up with customer service and guarantee, as needed. I have sold them to a number of the top voicers who frequent this list, and the verdict is unanimous - everyone loves this tool.
