By quickly taping off the glue joint & spraying on one good coat of wet shellac I/we find it so much easier to clean up glue this way.  I've done it this way 14 years. I've seen no detrimental consequence & the board ends up spotlessly clean. The board is dry & ready to press. I have not done this yet the idea of slightly easier cleanup of glue without it soaking into the wood near the ribs is tempting.
