I now use to remove the plate and spray. I like the Motip system,
spraying one layer primer, then 3 layers antique gold acrylic, then 3 layers
clear varnish. All layers at 30 minutes interval. What I like very
much with Motip is that it … fills the scratches in the original finish.
No need to japan or sand, the result is nice and smooth. On a
scratch, simply reduce the spraying distance a tiny bit, and the fog becomes
more like liquid, which does the filling. Not so with other brands
though.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
