While I do believe that it is needlessly complicated, it's not really all that time consuming, and many of the steps listed only have to be done the first time. If you enabled cookie saving in your web browser, you will only need to do steps 1 and 4 to get started, 5, (6,) and 7 to start reading whatever you want to read, and 8 and 10 to post.
