<DIV> Hello Marshall,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> In the 70s Aeolian built a 88 and a
64 note " Melodigrand " Sp. </DIV>
<DIV>They took the 88 note raised the entire keyboard appx 6 to 8 in. and </DIV>
<DIV>called it Melodipro.</DIV>
<DIV>This made it a "stand-up " (to play) piano for stage
use. This was done </DIV>
<DIV>by lengthening the lifter wires. It was also built to accommodate
electronic </DIV>
<DIV> pick-ups. There was a problem in the (drop action) lifter wires
being to weak. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> I was at the factory one day and Bob
Hoyman ask me to look at this </DIV>
<DIV>problem. I recommended a stiffer wire as would be the
cheapest way </DIV>
<DIV>to go. Another way was to install a guide rail ( like a
Grand damper rail)</DIV>
<DIV>in at mid point of the wire. This was at a time that Luke Borger
was in </DIV>
<DIV>charge of the Memphis plant. So god knows what happen. Some of these</DIV>
<DIV>pianos were two string unison . </DIV>
<DIV> If your piano is one of these it will present no
problem in tuning.</DIV>
<DIV> Other than this piano was their standard "575 scale" and this
gave </DIV>
<DIV>tuning problems in the high tenor.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Hope this helps,</DIV>

tune a Aeolian Melodi Pro. I'm told it has a helpinstill pick ups.
I wanted to know is there a technique in removing that before tuning?
Someone sent me an e-mail a while ago, but I cannot locate it. So I wanted to
know if you could give me the heads up again. </FONT><BR><FONT size=3
face=Arial></FONT> <BR><FONT size=3 face=Arial>Another piano I
encountered yesterday-I went to tune a piano yesterday and found out it was a
duoart. Taking off the top wasn't a problem but to get into the bass
area to tune it one would have to remove the player. It has these thin
metal brackets that screw onto the piano which I figured I would remove the
screws, but it's connected to what looks like a pipe or hose going into it,
kind of reminds me of some of the pars under the hood of a car. the pipe
looking thing is gat and come out of the bottom left of this big black part of
the player onthe bass side. so is there a knack for removing this?
Should I jsut refer them to a tech. who works on players?
thanks</FONT><BR><FONT size=3 face=Arial>Marshall</FONT><BR><BR><BR><SPAN
